Entertaining, adventure-filled, and action-packed are not usually words used to describe a stay at a luxury resort--but at Misibis Bay Resort in Bicol, guests can expect their trip to be all these, as well as comfortable and pampering.

The resort's location on the isle of Cagraray just off the eastern coast of Albay gives guests a sense of privacy and exclusivity and combines the natural beauty of the locale with urbane amenities. This self-dubbed luxury playground of Bicol provides a mix of the outdoor-oriented activities the region is known for-swimming with whale sharks, caving, trekking and hiking, diving, and other land and water sports-delivered in true luxury resort fashion, with a steady supply of cold towels and refreshments always on hand.

As a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, a collection of some of the world's finest independent small luxury hotels, Misibis Bay has world class amenities and services. The resort offers 24-hour butler service, a range of dining options (including personalized dining setups), and 37 luxury rooms and villas with relaxing views of the resort's pool and beachfront.

The villas' high ceilings, spacious terraces, and large glass windows bring the sunlight and sea breeze indoors and offer a comfortable tropical escape in each room. While guests are surrounded with natural beauty, all the rooms are equipped with modern amenities, such as air conditioning, tea/coffee makers, a refrigerated private bar, wireless internet access, satellite televisions, DVD players, iPod docks, and multi-line telephones.

Guests are pampered with a complimentary foot bath upon arrival, and can settle into rooms furnished with either a king-sized or two double beds, 300-count beddings, and down pillows. Throughout the day, little treats and native delicacies--such as ginamos, a fried banana snack, or local buko and mango ice candy in small plastic tubes--are delivered to the guests' rooms or to their deck chairs along the beach.

Dining at Misibis Bay is an experience in itself--aside from the buffet laid out for guests three times a day, the resort accommodates alternative dining options, including dinner in the middle of a candle-lit amphitheater, lunch at the resort Marina, or breakfast on a helipad with a view of Mayon Volcano. Asian cuisine and Bicolano specialties are served at the Spice Market and the De La Playa grill, with native spicy dishes highlighted in the buffet's Bicol corner.

More than the luxury accommodations and dining facilities, what establishes the resort's position as a luxury playground is the long list of relaxing and energizing activities available on the island and in neighboring areas. Guests can relax by the beach or wade in one of the three pools, get a massage at the in-house spa, or enjoy the activities at the fitness center and the recreation center, where facilities for darts, billiards, table tennis, and karaoke are available. The resort has a number of kid-friendly facilities, such as the kiddie pool, the playground, and the playroom, which has the requisite toys and video games, as well as an area filled with plastic balls. Misibis Bay also offers a variety of water sports activities, such as kayaking, snorkelling, basic diving, wind surfing, wake boarding, knee boarding, jet skiing, and hobie cat sailing, as well as a number of adventure activities, including ATV rides, a zip line, and wall climbing. For those looking to discover the rest of Bicol, the resort offers a Legazpi city tour, a chopper tour of Cagraray Island, a Mount Mayon Trek, and various others. Cold water and towelettes are always on hand for freshening up during the most vigorous activities. Even with the vast array of activities, Misibis Bay's commitment to service and comfort stands-the resort's guest recreation associates facilitate tours and most activities, and make sure visitors are safe and enjoying their stay.

The Sitio is the resort's recreation center, where the gym, playroom, billiards table, darts board, videoke room, and library are. This is also where the resort's clinic is.

Right beside the recreation center is a playground surrounded by trees, so that children can play there even during the hottest part of the day.

The resort has its own marina where guests go for scuba diving, snorkeling, and the sunset cruise.
