Plan Overview

Learn how to survive in the wild and enjoy an all-access pass to nature-oriented attractions at the Jungle Environment Survival Training (JEST) Camp in Zambales! Located at the Upper Mau in Cubi-Triboa District of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, this three-hectare survival camp is an adventurer’s haven of unique and exciting experiences. Since the 1960s, the JEST Camp has been offering the most comprehensive survival training courses as inspired from the primitive way of living of the indigenous people. Through the years, JEST Camp has been offering enjoyable park visits and has grown into an environment-friendly attraction, where nature lovers can have unforgettable close encounters with animals. JEST Camp believes that survival is best taught in wilderness classrooms where people go through actual challenges that develop their instincts and resilience. With this, they offer short Jungle Survival Demo, where visitors will be taught basic survival techniques such as determining the kind of trees with drinkable water and making utensils, plates, and mugs out of bamboo poles. Visitors are also taught how to produce fire from wood and cook food using a bamboo-made cookware. JEST Camp’s instructors are no other than our Aeta brothers who are all experts on wilderness living. If you want a more comprehensive survival course, JEST Camp also offers other survival programs that will fit your requirement. They have a 72-hour Survival Boot Camp, where you will be taught advanced jungle survival skills that will push your limits in a realistic and challenging scenario. Meanwhile, kids who want to educate themselves in wilderness living can also sign up for JEST Camp’s Wild Child, an overnight survival course for children. Students will receive JEST Camp certificates upon completing the course. But more than being a survival training ground, JEST Camp is also a leisure destination for nature and bird lovers. This camp allows travelers to immerse themselves in the animal’s natural habitat. Different species of birds can be found in JEST Camp’s expansive wooded area, where they feel at home and safe. Explore JEST Camp’s Magaul Bird Park that serves as home to macaws, hornbills, pigeons, and many other avian species. Visitors can also feed and play with the birds at their Walk-in Aviary. They also have the Bird Discovery Center, a mini museum that features facts about birds and prehistoric animals. Upon reaching the exit of the museum, visitors will be led to JEST Camp’s Butterfly Garden, where they can try to chase and get as close as they can to lovely butterflies. Travelers will also be fascinated at JEST Camp’s Wings of the World, a one of a kind bird show, where about half a thousand birds fly over the audience for a mesmerizing spectacle. Show starts every 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM on Mondays to Thursdays, and every 11:30 AM, 1:30 AM, and 4:00P PM every weekend and holidays as well. Kids will also have fun playing at Magaul Maze Quest, where they will be challenged to find the elusive sarimanok, Maranao’s legendary bird, by dipping their fingers into colored chalk. JEST Camp also educates their visitors about the insects’ lifestyle, characteristics, and ecological roles through their Interactive Insectarium. Lastly, after a day of an amazing learning experience, visitors may marvel at Subic’s breath-taking, panoramic cityscape in JEST Camp’s View Deck.
