Ah yes, summer—it’s that time of the year when a lot of people feel faint either from the scorching heat of the sun or from starving themselves just to have the perfect beach body.

We do understand the desire for smaller thighs and no love handles jutting out of one’s swimwear while in Boracay. Trust us, we’ve all been there. But while some of us managed to slim down and most of just couldn't do it, we’ve come to accept these 3 things about getting a perfect beach body.


1. There’s really no easy way.
There’s a reason why people who lose a lot of weight label their experience with dramatic words like “my journey to weight loss” or “a success story”—it’s because slimming down is just too darn hard. It takes a lot of time to get a beach-ready body, and whoever said that you can pull it off in just a few weeks is as crazy as a text message that says you just won half a million pesos. If you want to slim down or just even out your weight, then getting regular exercise should do the trick. But if you want that chiseled Greek god/goddess body that you dream of, well, sorry to say but you should have started a year ago.


2. Exercise and proper diet go hand-in-hand.
This advice is not just for getting a great beach body but something you should basically follow in your life. You can’t expect to have a slimmer physique if you spend hours on the treadmill followed by eating a huge tub of ice cream, or saying no to extra rice but you just sit on the couch the entire day. Live a better life by having a balanced and portioned diet along with regular physical activity. Occasional cheat days and meals are okay but try to limit it to just one glazed donut.


3. It’s not always about the abs.
You may have washboard abs that have become the main star of your Instagram account, but if people hate your guts (no pun intended) because you try too hard to get attention or you make fun of others because they don’t look as good as you, then good luck and enjoy your banana boat ride alone. Remember that the people on the beach will come in different shapes and sizes: some of them may be out of shape but there will also be a lot who look way better than you. At the end of the day, your beach body is useless if you don’t have an amazing personality to complement it.
