Are you going on a trip soon? Whether you're a first timer or an experienced traveler, if you want to make sure your vacation goes smoothly, try not to commit the mistakes below. Have you done any of these? Let us know about your experience in a comment.

1. Showing Up Late

Being late to the airport or passenger terminal can make your trip go wrong before it's even begun. If you miss your flight, you will have to be rebooked on the next one, which means shelling out more bucks for the airline's rebooking fee. If you're lucky, you might get the chance to fly on the same day, but that still means having to adjust your itinerary and checking if anything needs to be changed with the hotel you're staying at.

2. Failing to Ask for Directions

Never assume that you know your route. It's nice to explore and get lost in an unfamiliar place, but if you're having trouble making your way around the airport or city, don’t hesitate to ask fellow tourists or local authorities for directions. For international destinations, there will most likely be English directions posted around transport terminals. You can also go to a tourist assistance desk to get help. If you have a smartphone with you, you can even use GPS (Global Positioning System) maps and directive apps to help you get around.

3. Not Getting Travel Insurance

Travelers on a budget might opt not to avail of travel insurance, but having it comes in handy when you're traveling abroad, especially for medical or personal emergencies. For a minimal fee, you get benefits such as flight delay compensation, medical assistance, and accident compensation.

4. Traveling Unprepared or Planning at the Last Minute

Even if you're going backpacking, it helps to have a sense of where you intend to go on your trip. Make sure you plan your itinerary ahead of time, especially if you're heading to a destination you haven't visited before. The earlier you book your hotel, the better as well, so that you don't run out of available rooms to choose from. This is really important if you're traveling in the summer or during a holiday. If you're having trouble booking, go the fast and convenient route: book online on www.travelbook.ph.

5. Getting Stressed

Remember that traveling is a time to de-stress, so although planning is important, getting preoccupied with too many little details can also make you suffer in the long run. Think of your trip as a time to let go of your inhibitions and experience new things. Avoid thinking about or doing work and just let yourself enjoy the place you're visiting.
