In a rare occurrence, February 14 will land on a Saturday this year, giving couples a chance to have a Valentine’s Day weekend. One of the best things couples can do for this special occasion is to go on an out-of-town trip where you can spend time with each other and just be. Here are 5 places you can go to this Valentine’s Day weekend.

The temperature is still going down as we reach the climax of the amihan season, so Baguio will be at its coldest. It is a great time and place to spend with someone special because the weather isn’t generally cool in the metro. Visit Baguio and have a cozy vacation with your loved one. You and your partner can go strawberry picking, try horseback riding, or have a simple romantic stroll around Burnham Park. If you are an adventurous couple, you can climb Mt. Pulag, or if art is more your thing, you can visit the beautiful BenCab Museum.

If you think Baguio is too far to visit to for a short weekend trip, the next best place to stay at is Tagaytay. You can go to Picnic Grove with your partner for a nice lunch or you can visit the stellar Puzzle Mansion. After this, you can head back to your hotel and have a romantic dinner while enjoying a nice view of Taal Lake and Volcano.

There aren’t a lot of people flocking to Boracay at this time of year, making it a good place to visit for Valentine’s Day if you and your partner are beach lovers. You can have a nice day at the beach without the crowds. For dinner, you can either stay at your hotel (try Prawns Maricudo with Garlic Basil Rice if you’re staying at Two Seasons Boracay) or head to the D’Talipapa. The latter is an awesome place to get fresh seafood such as salmon and oysters. These aphrodisiacs can help spice up your weekend.

Baler, Aurora, is the place to be for sporty couples who want an action-filled Valentine’s Day. You can visit several of the beaches, among them Sabang Beach and Digisit Beach. You can even have a nice romantic trek to Ditumabo Falls and have a picnic. Of course, your trip won’t be complete without surfing. Once you’re done with your jam-packed day, you can just head back to your hotel room and watch the sunset while drinking wine and enjoying each other’s company.

Metro Manila
If going on an out-of-town trip is out of the question, the next best thing to a weekend outing is a cozy staycation in the city. There are numerous hotels around the metro, plenty of them offering Valentine’s Day packages that make it easier for couples to plan their weekend. Book a nice comfortable hotel, get a couple’s massage, have a dinner by candlelight, and relax for the rest of the weekend.
