Cebu is most known for the Sinulog Festival. This annual celebration, which happens every January, is well attended by party-ready tourists. But beyond the famous festival, there are plenty of other things you can do in Cebu, which definitely make the place worth a visit no matter what time of the year. Read on for 5 fun things you can try.

1.    Eat some lechon.
What better time and place to eat the best lechon than when you are in Cebu? Lechon is a famous delicacy here, so no matter what restaurant or eatery you visit, you’re sure to find it yummy (we suggest giving Zubuchon a try!). If your heart and your stomach are up to it, you can even do a lechon food trip. Don’t forget to bring some home to your relatives as well.

2.    Visit Magellan’s Cross.
Magellan first landed in Cebu when he arrived in the Philippines, and this is where he introduced the Catholic religion to Filipinos. The cross is the symbol of this, and it is currently in a chapel beside the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño on Magallanes Street in Cebu City. The original cross is housed in a new casing to protect it from overzealous devotees though some believe the original cross has been lost for years.

3.    Have fun at SkyWalk Adventure.
SkyWalk Adventure is located at the top of Crown Regency Hotel in Cebu City. There are four attractions you can try here, depending on how adventurous you are. Some of the rides you can try are the Edge Coaster where you plunge up and down at a high altitude, and the Skywalk Extreme Adventure, which allows you to walk on a translucent floor about 126.55 meters above the street.

4.    Swim with the whale sharks.
If you head to Oslob, you can experience the magic of swimming with the whale sharks. Over the course of a few years, fisher men in the area have developed a close bond with these majestic creatures, and over time, more and more tourists come and want to experience this magic. With a few restrictions, you can swim with them and wait for them to approach you.

5.    Shop for pasalubong.
During most trips one usually waits until the very last minute or the last day to buy pasalubong. Cebu has a treasure trove of things to buy and bring back home like otap, dried mangoes, lechon belly, and dried fish. With so much yummy food to buy, pasalubong shopping can become a fun activity on its own.
