As the last pages of 2016 draw near, we look back and reminisce about all the places we’ve discovered and all the travel memories we’ve made in the past months. 2017 is right around the corner, and now it’s time to start thinking about the things we plan on doing next year. Here are 5 travel resolutions you can consider following to guide you to having a more adventurous 2017.

1.    Take advantage of travel deals.
It can be very costly to travel, so saving every penny for a trip is essential. To make sure you get the most out of your money for your trip, take advantage of hotel deals and flight promos. With enough patience and will power, you can find yourself booked for a great trip at up to half the cost if you had paid in full retail value. Also take advantage of TravelBook’s many deals and promos for Philippine hotels. Subscribe to our newsletter here to make sure you don’t miss out.

2.    Get out of your comfort zone.
You might often find yourself playing things safe, especially since the world is full of the unfamiliar. When it comes to travel, that usually means going to the same place multiple times and not doing or seeing anything new. There is nothing wrong with this, especially if you have a particular fondness for one place, but eventually you have to consider that you might not be getting the best value for your money. So for 2015, even if it’s just once, go somewhere new, somewhere unknown. Book a room or a flight and see what the world has to offer and, who knows, it might be just what you need.

3.    Go somewhere alone.
Most of the time, we usually have at least one other companion or a group of people with us when we travel. It’s fun and safe, but sometimes you might find yourself skipping things you like on the itinerary because your friends don’t want to do them. Go on a trip alone, and do the things you want to do. It might feel daunting in the beginning, but you’re sure to make a lot of special memories.

4.    Tick more items off your Philippine travel bucket list.
Going to a foreign country has a certain appeal we can’t deny. Exploring the world is great, but why not visit more places in the Philippines too? There are 7,107 islands for you to discover. From the underground caves in Palawan to the Sinulog Festival in Cebu to beautiful Samal Island in Davao, there is much to see and do.

5.    Start a travel journal.
In this fast-paced world with smart phones and the Internet, making memories and sharing them have never been more convenient. Try going old school and start a travel journal or scrapbook. Fill the pages with pictures from your trip and notes about the places you’ve been to. This doesn’t mean you have to stop posting photos on Facebook, but by doing this, you’ll have easy access to tangible travel memories. Who knows? You might even be able to use them as fodder for your future career as the host of a travel lifestyle show.
