There is an oversupply of oil in the world today, but unfortunately, one thing that remains scarce is quality time for you and your bae. Both of you are just almost always too busy with your jobs and your careers. And just when you’re about to materialize your plans, something suddenly gets in the way like emergency at work, family problems, etc. This is all the more reason to make your dates extra special.
And while the world is starting to feel the effects of lower oil prices, here are some ideas for a memorable bae-cation to make sure that no rollback in love takes place between you and your bae.
1. Go on a history walk together.
You don’t need to be history buffs to appreciate this experience. Going on a history walk will not only let you visit the impressive historic places in the country, but it encourages you both to talk as well. While you and your special someone discuss about the significance of the places you will visit, you can use this as a chance to converse about the best moments and milestones in your relationship too. A simple trip to Intramuros and Rizal Park is not that costly if you’re in Metro Manila. But if you have the luxury of time and the resources, hop on a plane and go to Cebu instead, where you can revel in its historic landmarks like the Magellan’s Cross and the Basilica del Santo Niño.
2. Try extreme sports.
Remember the rush of blood when you used to see your bae when he was still just your crush? How about the "kilig" after the first date or the excitement when you officially became steady? According to science, it’s adrenaline that makes your heart race in these situations. Get an adrenaline rush when you and your bae challenge each other at Global Gutz Paintball in the Fort. Take your relationship literally to new heights at Bonifacio Global City’s Flying Trapeze. Or if you prefer water sports, head to Sta. Rosa, Laguna and try wakeboarding in Nuvali or ride the waves with your surfboard in Baler. Engaging in a little friendly competition is a great way to make your relationship more fun and exciting.
3. Go on a hiking trip together.
Hiking will not only keep you both fit but the whole experience symbolizes many things about romantic relationships (this is the part where we become cheesy). Like hiking, relationships both have smooth and rough paths. You need each other for support while going through steep and rocky ridges. And as long as you don’t give up, the hiking continues—just like romantic relationships. Because in the end, there is no other person better to share that breathtaking mountaintop view with.
4. Visit the beach.
The beach will always be a great destination for couples. Strolling along the shore while holding hands or watching the romantic sunset together never gets old. Boracay is always a good choice, but if you want to avoid the crowd, try going to Diniwid Beach, the quieter side of the island. The unspoiled Long Beach in San Vicente, Palawan is another ideal place for a peaceful and private paradise getaway.
5. Volunteer for a charity.
One of the best ways to celebrate love is by giving love. There are a lot of charities and non-profit organizations looking for volunteers. Pick one that is close to your hearts and you and your bae can spend time together with those in need. You can also donate old clothes and toys to an orphanage and even conduct a feeding program. Making a difference in the lives of other people will be a rewarding and memorable experience that you and your bae can cherish forever (yes, forever exists!).
6. Go on a food trip.
They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. But don’t worry. Even if you do not know how to cook, you can still satisfy his appetite by doing the next best thing to cooking—taking him on a food trip. Maginhawa Street in Quezon City is one of the best places to binge-eat, with countless restaurants offering varying types of affordable dishes. You can also explore UP Diliman campus for their famous street food which is just a stone’s throw away from Maginhawa. Sure, we all want to experience a five-course meal in an expensive restaurant, but the heartiest of conversations always happens when you are both laidback and being your usual selves.
7. Go on a staycation.
Believe it or not, but checking into a hotel to just cuddle and tuck yourselves beneath some warm sheets while binge-watching your favorite TV shows is a lot of fun. Going on a staycation gives you a feeling that you’re on vacation, but without stressing over booking flights and tours, or getting used to unfamiliar surroundings. It’s just you and him in the simplest form of spending time together. There’s no need to complicate it because at the end of the day, all you need for a special and memorable bae-cation is him—just him.
