Going to Boracay on a budget? Flying is only one mode of transportation you can use to get there. Traveling by sea can be just as comfortable as a quick plane ride—with added perks. For one thing, it’s significantly cheaper to go by boat than by plane. Typical fare via 2GO Travel, the Philippines’ leading sea transport provider, ranges from Php 488 to Php 2,000 one way from Manila (via Batangas) to Caticlan Jetty Port. Meanwhile, airfare prices usually range from Php 2,000 to Php 7,000 one way.

One big benefit of flying, though, is how quickly it takes you to your chosen destination. For example, you can get to Manila to Caticlan Jetty Port in an hour. That means more time to maximize your stay on the island. In contrast, a trip by sea from Batangas to Caticlan takes 10 hours. But while this might seem like a long voyage, there are plenty of things to see and do while on board the ship that can make you enjoy your journey.

Aside from having the luxury of savoring meals and having bonding time with your barkada or family, you can use your stay on board to unwind. Budget accommodation types like Mega Value, Super Value, and Tourist have bunk beds for resting. Meanwhile, luxurious room types like Tourist and State Class are more private. Aside from having beds, each comes with a private bathroom and its own TV set, perfect if you just want to spend some leisure time watching TV shows or catching up on sleep.

2GO travelers also have access to several facilities. If you’re in the mood to party, the dining area for first and economy class members doubles as an entertainment area. There’s a ballroom available too if you want to hold a dance party. If you’re on a corporate trip, you can even hold meetings or conferences in one of their function rooms. Relaxation should be every passenger’s top priority, though, which is why 2GO ships’ spa and salon is the perfect venue for some pampering, whether it’s in the form of a new hairstyle or a massage.

Are you ready to take the next step and try traveling to Boracay by sea? 2GO Travel sails daily (except Mondays) from Batangas to Caticlan at 9PM and from Caticlan to Batangas (except Tuesdays) at 8AM. They also offer prepaid cards for Boracay at Php 1,950 each, which makes booking tickets even more convenient for travelers. All you have to do is scratch the ink off your card, take note of the alphanumeric code, and call 2GO to book your reservation. Your e-ticket will be issued via e-mail. Prepaid card holders get additional perks like welcome drinks, full board meals, free insurance, and free use of linens.
