Amuma in the Visayan dialect means pamper or spoil, connoting a sense of indulgence, attention to detail, and luxurious comfort and care. True to its name, the full service Amuma Spa provides gracious and thoughtful pampering treatments in a complete environment of calm.

The flagship spa of Maribago Bluewater in Mactan Island, Cebu, Amuma prides itself on a holistic approach to wellness that also incorporates the resort’s strongly Filipino flavor. Instead of simply indulging in relaxing spa treatments for a few hours, guests can enjoy a serene spa atmosphere throughout their stay in specially designed suites located within the tropically landscaped Amuma Spa Wing. Spa services include both ancient and modern therapies culled from Visayan-Filipino traditions as well as Asian and Western cultures, all designed to indulge and rejuvenate the body and spirit.

Fronting the Amuma Spa Wing is the spa center, which holds treatment rooms, suites with a private Jacuzzi and steam bath, locker rooms, the gym and health club, a salon, a boutique, and a juice bar. Beyond this is a courtyard with a lagoon pool and various treatment pavilions, for hilot, tai chi, meditation, and other activities. Clustered around the pool are the low two-storey balconied structures that house the Amuma Spa Suites.

Within this tranquil setting, guests can indulge in spa treatments ranging from hilot, Swedish, shiatsu, hot stone, deep tissue, and foot massages; wraps and scrubs; facials; and bundled packages incorporating multiple services. There are also personal trainers assisting guests at the gym or introducing them to the disciplines of tai chi or arnis, a Filipino martial art.

In addition to purely physical therapies, the spa also incorporates other wellness practices, such as crystal therapy through the placement of crystals on chakra points, space cleansing through the burning of medicinal herbs and minerals (pausok), and the invocation of spiritual guidance and blessings through prayer (dasal and orasyon).

From the ambiance and the rooms, to the treatments and the activities, Maribago Bluewater’s Amuma Spa envelops guests in a truly Filipino holistic pampering spa experience.
