You can expect to spend a lot for shopping this holiday season because of all the gift giving. But let’s face it, even on a normal day, the compulsion to shop finds its way to the surface with just a glimpse of a huge sale sign. To help you maximize your budget for shopping, here are a few recommended places you can go to in Metro Manila where you’ll have countless affordable choices.
Located in the heart of Manila, Divisoria is the ultimate go-to place for low priced anything. Be it school uniforms, shoes, bags, souvenirs, and whatever else you can think of, you can surely find it here, and it costs way less, especially if you buy in bulk. Don’t be afraid to haggle, but be mindful of insanely cheap toys and food, which may pose health risks. But if you’re looking for something to wear on every occasion, go ahead and splurge at the countless stalls around and in the shopping centers like Tutuban and 168.
When people hear “Greenhills,” the first thing that usually comes to mind is tiangge or cheap gadgets. This shopping center in San Juan is often the first stop of people in Metro Manila for the best deals on cell phones, computers, electronic devices, and even clothes and jewellery. It’s best to go with killer haggling skills because the vendors are willing to hear you out if the price is reasonable. Beyond shopping, there are other things you can do here with the abundance of good restaurants, a cinema complex, and theatres.
3. Marikina Riverbanks
If you’re from the east, then a nice shopping hot spot is Marikina Riverbanks. Long before SM and Robinsons set up shop in the area, people have been flocking to Riverbanks because of all the outlet stores of famous apparel brands that are constantly on sale all year round, with even bigger sales during the holiday season. It is also a highly recommended place to go shopping for high quality footwear made in the Philippines.
Baclaran, located in the south side of Manila, is another haven for shoppers. The area is usually busy due to numerous pilgrims visiting Baclaran Church, but that shouldn’t stop you from checking out the flea markets and side walk vendors that give great deals on clothes, homewares, toys, and even pets. There are huge and glitzy malls near Baclaran but there is no better feeling than finding a hidden gem after hours of hunting in this market district.
Located in Pasig City, Tiendesitas is a trendy shopping destination that offers great bargains and deals while promoting Philippine culture and local products at the same time. Shops are located in Maranao inspired pavilions that were made from indigenous materials. Here you can shop for antiques, furniture, pets, food, and many more. At night, there are live shows and exhibits to entertain you while you sit back and marvel at all the great deals that you were able to take advantage of.
