Instead of opting for easy to open canned goods or anything you can cook instantly, try these simple recipes to add a delectable twist to your daily diet while the quarantine lasts.
Sardines with Misua and Patola
How many times have you had sardines straight from the can in the last couple of days? Time to shake things up with this popular recipe. Just heat oil in a pan and saute chopped onion, garlic, and tomatoes. Add sardines, misua, and two cups of water and the patola. Season with salt and pepper. Once the misua is cooked, serve hot.
Stir-Fried Ramen Noodles
We're pretty sure that you're stocked up on instant noodles, but you don't always have to just add hot water. Try making a simple yakisoba dish by sauteing onions, garlic, and ginger. Add soy sauce and shredded cabbage followed by the noodles (slightly cooked in hot water). Season with black pepper and stir-fry for one minute before serving.
Simple Tomato and Garlic Pasta
This recipe is very simple and perfect for pasta lovers. Heat oil and saute tomatoes and garlic. When the tomatoes are soft and have started to release its juice, season with salt and pepper and set aside. Boil pasta until soft and combine with the sautéed tomatoes. Serve immediately.
It is important to eat healthy this quarantine. If you want something comforting at the same time, consider making vegetable soup. You only need chopped onions, carrots, diced potatoes, olive oil, tomato paste, and water. Heat oil then add the onion, garlic, carrots, and tomato paste and stir for a couple of minutes. Add the potatoes and water and simmer until the potatoes are tender. Season with salt and pepper. You can add other vegetables for additional nutrients like celery, cabbage, squash, baguio beans, pechay, anything!
