Top 5 Yacht Clubs in the Philippines

Here are the best yacht clubs to enroll your imaginary yacht.
Admit it. When you're painstakingly commuting to work and you're stuck in the EDSA traffic or the sardine can that is the MRT, you start to daydream what it would be like to have your own mode of transportation. Perhaps, a helicopter, a private jet, or even a yacht. But alas, since you're not a wealthy businessman or a comedic actor turned game show host, you know that it will probably be a while before you can buy your own boat. But don't worry, because even if it will take you eons to get your hands on one of those sleek bad boys, you can keep the dream alive by visiting, or even gawking outside one of the many yacht clubs in the country. We've compiled a list of some of the best yacht clubs in the Philippines, where, hopefully, you can be a future member.

1. Manila Yacht Club
In one of your trips to Manila or Pasay, you've probably passed along Roxas Boulevard and admired one of the gorgeous yachts docked at the Manila Yacht Club. Located right next to the headquarters of the Philippine Navy, this members-only yacht club was founded in 1927, making it is one of the oldest, not only in the Philippines, but also in Asia. Aside from being an insider in one of the premier yacht clubs in Southeast Asia, a member also enjoys access to facilities like the Clubhouse, which serves exquisite choices for dining and offers many function rooms for grand and luxurious events.

2. Subic Yacht Club
As the former U.S. Naval Base in the Philippines, it makes sense that Subic would have its own yacht club. Like the Manila Yacht Club, Subic Yacht Club is members-only, but sometimes, their facilities can be rented out for celebrations like birthdays and formal events like company functions. Located at the eastern end of the scenic Subic Bay, the yacht club has a wealth of facilities for the use of its members. It is equipped with accommodations ranging from guestrooms to suites. It also has a restaurant that serves delectable fare. On top of sports facilities for basketball and volleyball, it also has a gym, several swimming pools, and a playground for children, making it the ultimate spot for recreation.

3. Puerto Galera Yacht Club
Gifted with a beautiful coast, Puerto Galera is one of the premier beach destinations for Metro Manila dwellers. It is also the home of the Puerto Galera Yacht Club. Founded in 1991, it organizes several regattas yearly for sailing enthusiasts. While the yacht club is also members-only, they also extend their services outside of the group like offering beginner sailing lessons as well as yacht rentals to those who are interested in learning how to sail. Facilities at Puerto Galera Yacht Club include a restaurant, bar, and several function rooms for events.

4. Punta Fuego Yacht Club
Part of the exclusive Club Punta Fuego resort, the Punta Fuego Yacht Club caters to the interest of yachting enthusiasts. It is located in Nasugbu, Batangas, which is around three-hours away from Metro Manila. Aside from boat services and access to WiFi, a locker room, water sports facilities, and a bar food and drinks, members of the Puento Fuego Yacht Club are also entitled to the facilities of Club Punta Fuego. After a tiring day of sailing across the open seas, members can unwind at the resort's accommodations or enjoy the many recreational options including a golf course, spa, and swimming pool.

5. Taal Lake Yacht Club
Located in the scenic Taal Lake, the Taal Lake Yacht Club may be a membership club, but it is also open to the public. They offer sailing lessons for beginners as well as yacht rentals. Aside from sailing, other water sports you can enjoy here include windsurfing and kayaking. They also offer Taal Volcano tours. For the nourishment of sailors, there is a restaurant and a bar onsite. And while there are currently no hotels within the club, there is a camping ground if you're staying for the night. You can bring your own tent or you can rent one at the club.
