Tips on Getting Cheaper Bookings in Boracay

With its incredible white sand beaches and unparalleled nightlife, it's no wonder Boracay has been a world-renowned destination for beach bums. The island's popularity has been of much help in putting the Philippines on the global tourism radar, driving an influx of both local and foreign tourists to its shores year after year. And because of the diversity of Boracay's guests, the accommodation choices there are also diverse. You can find five-star beachfront resorts perfect for pleasure seekers as well as budget hotels for backpackers.

If you want to get the best bang out of your buck on your vacation, then you best avoid scheduling your trip during Boracay's peak seasons: summer, Holy Week, and Labor Day. During these days, the island is guaranteed to be full of vacationers, and hotel prices are skyrocketing because of peak season rates. But of course, those who prefer to be one with the crowd during those busy days should remember to reserve their room months in advance as hotels tend to get fully booked during peak season.

TravelBook.ph also has a lot of great deals for hotels in Boracay. Just make sure to sign up as a member and subscribe to the newsletter so you can be informed of the latest discounts for accommodations. The rates are also cheaper when you book using the TravelBook.ph app, which you can download on Android or iOS.

Recommended Hotels in Boracay with Cheap Rates

A budget Boracay trip is possible as affordable places to stay are available year-round. Pocket-friendly lodgings range from budget hotels and inns to hostels and dorms so you'll definitely have lots to choose from. Private rooms at hotels come as cheap as PHP 1,200.00, while shared accommodations go for at least PHP 600.00 to PHP 800.00.  Some of the recommended places to stay in Boracay include Boracay Box and Ladder Hostel, Boracay Mountain View Inn, Patrick's Home Boracay, and La Bella Casa.

These accommodations may be affordable, but trust that most of them have convenient amenities like WiFi, parking spaces, easy access to tourist attractions like beaches and water sports and activities, and even an in-house restaurant. Some of them even offer free breakfast, which is great especially if you're on a tight budget.

Affordable Activities in Boracay

There's a pre-existing notion that everything in Boracay is expensive. However, skeptics can be turned into believers as there are plenty of affordable—and even free—things to do in Boracay. You just have to plan your trip beforehand. Do some research online and maybe even prepare a budget and itinerary before you go so you can be prepared when you're there.

Of course, a visit to the world-class White Beach is on top of everybody's bucket list for Boracay. This four-kilometer stretch of white sand and crystal clear waters are divided into three stations: Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3.

Station 1 is the most popular since it is where the sand is the finest and whitest. Aside from enjoying a walk along the shore and making sandcastles, it's also obligatory to take photos at Willy's Rock, one of Boracay's landmarks. Most of the accommodations and souvenirs here, however, are a bit expensive.

The busier Station 2 is considered as the party central of the island. If you're looking for a wild night out on the shore, this is the place to be. It has plenty of bars that offer competitive prices for drinks, so if you're on a tight budget, make sure to scout these places first before settling. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your drink while watching fire dance performances on the beach.

Meanwhile, for those touring Boracay on a shoestring budget, Station 3 is your best friend. It is the most affordable station on the island and is where you can find the cheapest accommodations. There are also tons to do there from taking a dip in the glorious sea waters to getting a relaxing beachfront message, you'll definitely enjoy paradise pleasures while on a tight budget on this side of the island.

There's more to Boracay than just White Beach, however. There are other beautiful beaches that are worthy to be visited and discovered.

A 10-minute walk from White Beach is Diniwid Beach. It is relatively smaller but still possesses white sand shores and clear waters perfect for a dip. Not many people are aware of it so it serves as a great alternative for people who like to distance themselves from the crowd and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Another must-see beach is Puka Beach, located on the northern part of the island. Also known as Yapak Beach, it can easily be reached after a short tricycle ride. Puka Beach got its name because of the abundance of puka shells around. While its sand is not as white as White Beach's, Puka Beach's crystal clear waters will definitely invite you for a swim.

Affordable Shopping in Boracay

Shopping in Boracay is a breeze as there are already lots of stalls near tourist attractions selling all kinds of souvenirs from T-shirts to keychains and the like. The good thing about buying at these stalls is you can haggle with the seller if you find the price of the item to be too steep.

But if you want a more convenient place to shop, head to D'Mall in Station 2. This place has everything from souvenir shops to commercial outlets and even supermarkets. It's a great place to shop for supplies and pasalubong for your friends and family.

Aside from souvenirs, the calamansi muffins from Real Coffee & Tea are a popular pasalubong. One box containing six of these delectable muffins only costs PHP 320.00.

Boracay is also known for its delicious seafood, and the best place to buy the island's freshest catch is the Old Talipapa Market.

Affordable Dining in Boracay

There are plenty of affordable options when it comes to dining in Boracay. For those who love Filipino food, Smoke Restaurant is the place to go. They offer a wide variety of local dishes, but they are popular for their sizzling bulalo, a unique take on the popular comfort dish.

Meanwhile, seafood lovers should definitely head to D'Talipapa. It's a dampa-style joint that lets you buy the freshest seafood at the market and have them cooked any way you want.

For snacks, the most popular meal would have to be the chori burger. This unusual burger uses chorizo patties and is sold at most street food stalls alongside barbecued pork. Merly's BBQ, which is located in Station 1, is considered as the pioneer chori burger stall if you want the authentic taste. Wash down your satisfying meal with a healthy fruit shake from Jonah's Fruit Shake, also in Station 1.
