Davao is the fourth most populous city and the largest in terms of land area in the Philippines. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and the center of trade and commerce in Mindanao. Known for its strict laws, it is often said to be the safest city in the Philippines. But while tourists are pleased with the peace and order in the city, Davao City also offers limitless options for visitors because of its natural wonders and modern establishments.

One of the most amazing natural wonders in Davao City is its wildlife, and soaring high above them is the majestic Philippine eagle. This impressive animal is the largest eagle in the world in terms of wingspan, and is also the national bird of the Philippines. But the eagle is already critically endangered because of deforestation and hunting. The Philippine Eagle Center in Davao City houses a small forest that serves as a sanctuary for these endangered species. Other protected animals found in the center are wild pigs, owls, and brown deer.

The people of Davao City are arguably the most disciplined in the country but they sure know how to have a great time. Kadayawan Festival, held every August, is one of the biggest celebrations in the city. The locals celebrate as an act of thanksgiving for the blessings they've been receiving such as a bountiful harvest, the distinct culture of the city, and the peace and order. Traditional ceremonies signal the beginning of the feast, followed by a series of events like parades, street dances, and different competitions.

Davao City is also famous for the smelly but delicious "King of Fruits" known as durian. The fruit can be eaten raw or processed into candies, ice cream, and pastries.
