Parañaque is one of the busy cities in Metro Manila. A trading hub visited by Chinese, Japanese, and Indian traders during the ancient times, it is one of the first municipalities in the Metro Manila region. It also used to be part of the province of Rizal until it officially became a city in 1998. Since then, it has  blossomed into a metropolis and an important business center in the country.

One of the first things that comes to mind when people talk about Parañaque is Baclaran. It is also one of the most famous market districts in Metro Manila. Baclaran has numerous flea markets selling all sorts of low-prized goods like clothes, accessories, electronics, toys, and home decors. Also in the district is the Baclaran Church or the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.  It is one of the largest Marian churches in the country and one of the most visited. The church is frequented by devotees, especially on Wednesdays when a special novena mass is held.

Tourists can enjoy a nature walk in the Bird Sanctuary, located along the coastal area of Parañaque. It serves as a feeding ground for more than 80 species of birds that are found in the area, some of which migrated from the cold parts of China and Russia.  It is also the home of the endangered Philippine Duck.

Parañaque is also the perfect destination for high rollers. It has two of the most modern and luxurious casinos in the country—Solaire Resort and Casino and City of Dreams Manila.

By Taxi or Ridesharing Services
The easiest way to get to Parañaque  would be to take a taxi, which is widely available all over Metro Manila. Another convenient option is to use Grab or Uber with just a few taps on your smartphone. Expect the fare to be a bit costly especially during rush hour.

By Train
The southern end point of the LRT-1 is the Baclaran Station, which is already near the border of Parañaque and Pasay. This is also the best option to take if you’re heading to the Baclaran Redemptorist Church.
The Philippine National Railway also has stations in Baclaran and Sucat.

By Bus or Jeep
There are Baclaran-bound buses found along the stretch of Ayala Avenue. There are also jeeps along Taft Avenue that are headed for Baclaran. Jeeps can also take you to Parañaque if you’re coming from Alabang.

How to Get Around
Once you have reached Parañaque, you can take a jeep to go around the city. Tricycles and pedicabs are also available for shorter commutes, usually within the barangays and the residential areas.

What to See
People usually head to Parañaque because of Baclaran. After all, the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help is found in this district. Also known as the Baclaran Redemptorist Church, it is one of the most popular churches in Metro Manila. The church is often flocked by devotees, usually during Wednesdays, to attend the novena masses to Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

The Cathedral Parish of St. Andrew, also known as the Diocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señore del Buen Suceso and the Parañaque Cathedral, is also another religious landmark in the city. The cathedral is said to be one of the oldest churches in the Philippines, having been established in 1580. The cathedral has survived natural and man-made calamities throughout the years. Today, it stands proudly and serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Parañaque.
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport is also partially located in the city. The airport serves as the main gateway of the country and its surrounding areas to the rest world of the world. It is also the hub for major airlines such as AirAsia Philippines, Philippine Airlines, and Cebu Pacific.
Another notable landmark in Parañaque is the Manila Memorial Park. It is the final resting place of former President Corazon Aquino and her husband Ninoy Aquino.
Man-Made Attractions
High rollers will surely have a grand time in Parañaque because of Entertainment City, a resort and entertainment complex which is being developed to be like a gaming hub like Las Vegas and Macau. Solaire Resort & Casino boasts an expansive gaming area consisting of 1,620 slot machines and 360 gaming tables. Big events such as the Manila run of the renowned musical Les Miserables have been held at The Theatre.

Where to Eat
President’s Avenue and Aguirre Avenue in BF Homes Parañaque have become a haven for foodies in recent years as it features quite a number of homegrown restaurants that serve quality and artisanal dishes.

Not too far from the Urban Farm is Bread & Botany, which has a delightful selection of sandwiches. Their Korean fried chicken dish is also part of the menu, which guests can order either classic or spiced with their special kyuchimi flavor.
If you’re a seafood lover, then you should definitely try one of the dampa restaurants in Parañaque. Dining dampa style is where you buy fresh seafood from the onsite talipapa or market, choose among the many restaurants within the complex, and have them cooked however you like: with a soup base, grilled, broiled, or even fried.
Those who love tapsilog will surely find their cravings satisfied by visiting Maty’s at Don Galos. There are many tapsilog joints in Don Galos, but Maty’s Tapsilog is said to be the best. Maty’s is known for its generous serving of salty and sweet tapa, which is both tender and crispy, and goes perfectly well with egg and fried rice.
If you’re into fine dining, then you should definitely try the Manila branch of the world-famous Nobu in City of Dreams, which serve Japanese and Peruvian-inspired dishes. The black cod miso, sushi roll house special, and rock shrimp creamy spicy are signature dishes.
Coffee Shops
