Located in the southeastern region of Metro Manila, Taguig is a fast-rising metropolis in the Philippines. From a simple fishing community living off the country's largest lake Laguna de Bay, the city transformed itself into one of the leading residential and business centers in the metro.

Riddled with high-risers and commercial establishments, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is the most vibrant part of Taguig. At daytime, the financial district is crowded wih office workers crossing the streets and cars fresh from the morning rush hour. At night, it turns into a lively and colorful spot on the metro as people unwind inside shopping malls, classy fine-dining restaurants, coffee shops, trendy bars, and nightclubs. Its high-end residential areas are popular among the upper class and expats. Among the establishments you must visit in BGC are the Bonifacio High Street, The Mind Museum, and The Korean Cultural Center. Feel free to take selfies too with the beautiful public sculptures around like "Ang Supremo" by Benhur Tolentino and "Balanghai"  by Gerry Leonardo.

The experience in Taguig will not be complete without driving around and seeing random displays of military tanks, warplanes, and helicopters. Near BGC is Fort Bonifacio, the headquarters of the Philippine Army, Navy, and the Marine Corp. Tourists are invited to check out the The Philippine Army Museum where you can know more about the history of The Philippine Army. Also located in the Taguig are the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes' Cemetery) and the Manila American Cemetery, where Filipino and American soldiers who fought in World War II are buried.

By Taxi or Ridesharing Services
Taking a cab to Taguig City is the most convenient option. They are widely available all over Metro Manila so finding one won’t be a problem. The flag down rate is PHP 30.00. Every succeeding 500 meters or 90-second waiting time is charged PHP 3.50. Ridesharing services like Grab or Uber are also ideal to get to Taguig from any part in Metro Manila.

By Jeep or Shuttle Vans
There are also jeeps and shuttle vans that go to various points in Taguig City. These vehicles can be found at the Market! Market! terminal, MRT Guadalupe Station, and near MRT Ayala Station.

By Bus
From EDSA, you can get to Bonifacio Global City, the city’s financial district, with the help of the Fort Buses. There are several bus routes: central, east, lower west, north, upper west, west, and night routes. These can get quite confusing, so before you head to the city, do check out the bus route maps on the BGC website.

What to See
Landmarks
Located in the eastern section of the city, the Saint Anne Parish Church is one of the landmarks in Taguig. This baroque church is also one of the oldest structures in the entire country, having been established in 1883.

Next to the church is the Saint Anne Cemetery. Its notable feature is the simborio, which stands in the middle of the cemetery. Despite its fascinating dome architecture, this almost four centuries-old structure is in a state of neglect and has become a storage area for construction materials. Vandalisms have also marred its interiors and exteriors.

The 33,530 Filipinos who have offered their lives for the country’s freedom during the Second World War were laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. This famous cemetery is also where some of the late Philippine presidents are buried such as Elpidio Quirino, Carlos P. Garcia, and Diosdado Macapagal. It also serves as the resting place for the personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Another cemetery located in the city is the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial. This 152-hectare property is where some of the American soldiers who died during World War II and in New Guinea are interred. The cemetery has been visited by American officials who come to the Philippines, including US President Barack Obama.

Man-Made Attractions
Visit the Veterans Museum and learn more about World War II beyond what was written in  textbooks. The museum showcases war stories depicted in life-sized montages and tableaus. Other war materials and artifacts are also on display.

The Philippine Army Museum and Library is also another place worthy of a visit. The museum houses outdoor and indoor exhibits that speak about the nature of the Philippine military and its history. Keep in mind that tours should be scheduled two weeks in advance.

For science lovers out there, the Mind Museum in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is definitely right up your alley. The museum has five galleries: atom, life, earth, universe, and technology, each providing fun and exciting learning experiences that will bring out the geek in you.

For children, Kidzania is a popular international entertainment center for kids, and its branch in the Philippines is found in BGC. It is an indoor play city where children aged four to 14 can enjoy role-playing activities that are mock-ups of real life situations. Kids can experience how it is to be a doctor, teacher, banker, or even a firefighter! It is a great way for youngsters to discover what they want to be in the future.

BGC is also a place where the adults can play. For instance, Flying Trapeze Philippines at the corner of Federacion Drive and 9th Avenue is where you can release your inhibitions and defy gravity. It also aims to promote health and wellness through flying trapeze.

Another exciting adventure to try when in the area is Camp Sandugo at Market! Market! The place is perfect for thrill seekers, especially those who have a penchant for wall climbing. On the other hand, Turf BGC is where you can play or watch football, futsal and ultimate Frisbee. There is also Terra 28th and Track 30th where people can run, jog, or exercise.

Events and Festivals
Every July, the City of Taguig celebrates the annual Sta. Anang Banak Taguig River Festival. It is a grand fluvial parade that honors Saint Anne, the city’s patroness. The festival has various activities in store for just about everyone. There’s the Karera ng mga Bangkang Lunday, Boys and Girls Festival Parade, the Banak Fish-Cone Tossing Ceremony, Pagodahan, and the Pandangguhan.
