I wanted to love the place but there were disappointments. The location was not as expected. I thought it was right along a main road where you can easily hail a jeep or taxi. It's a short but steep walk up a road. Fortunately, Baguio has grab taxi so you don't need to always walk up/down the road. But most drivers don't know about Martha's Rooms; just say it's near Hotel Henrico. When we entered the place/lobby, it smelled like an old/abandoned house. The smell was quite strong, when we entered the room, the first thing I saw was a cockroach. I even found a cockroach inside my luggage the following day. I liked the bathroom; it was good with hot/cold shower. But my little girl was afraid to enter the shower because a small portion of the tiled walls was haphazardly done and looked very dirty with lots of dark spots in the grout. Breakfast was blah. It was just rice, egg and either deli meat or bangus (not boneless!) and coffee. Did not have a good sleep because there are dogs right outside our room. They are quiet most of the time but choose to be noisy (sometimes for a few hours) between 2-5AM. I would say the best thing about our stay is the strong wifi (PLDT FIBR). And the accommodating staff. They even allowed us to leave our luggage’s at the reception after check out so we can still tour Baguio and came back for our things around 6PM. It was an okay experience but I do not see myself booking a room here again.

The room was not most beautiful that there is but it was comfortable and homey like I'm only in my own room at home. Being in Baguio means no aircon is needed and it would still chill you to the bone so we were thankful that they provided comforters and not just the standard flat sheet. There was no electricity then so we can't charge our phones and gadgets and take a shower which was a bummer; hopefully they add a generator to their facilities next time in cases long time brown outs like this occur again. The restroom is located in the hallway, and was supposed to be shared with other guests. It was not as clean as I expected it to be even if it seemed that we were the only guests at the time. Also the water temperature was a little difficult to play with, it gives you ice cold water but a little shift to the right gives out a scalding hot water it actually made the restroom full of steam. We stayed out most of our time in Baguio because of the electricity issue, so we are also happy that the location of Martha's was superb. It was very easy to locate by foot or car or taxi as it was just behind Crown Legacy hotel/ beside Hotel Henrico and getting a cab to commute is a breeze. I just won't recommend walking going there because the pathway uphill was extremely steep. Overall, our stay at Martha's was worth it and definitely recommendable for budget travelers like us.
