Situated on the northwest corner of Luzon, Ilocos Norte is a vacation hotspot because of its impressive shoreline and marvelous terrains. Both the old and new clash and blend in this progressive province as historic structures proudly stand among the developed areas. Ilocos Norte is also famous for being the home province of Ferdinand Marcos, the longest-serving president of the Philippines.

Visitors to Ilocos Norte and drawn to the municipality of Pagudpod because of its dazzling white sand and shimmering blue waters. The beaches in the town are the perfect destinations for those who want to relax or try fun activities under the sun. Swimming, boating, island hopping, diving, or lounging by the sea are just some of the nice things to do around the shores.

But a discussion about Ilocos Norte won't be complete without its famed windmills. The iconic and huge wind turbines in Bangui Wind Farm are the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. They are powered by the strong winds coming from the West Philippine Sea. Aside from being one of the most unique tourist spots in the country, it is also an important source of power for the whole Ilocos Region.

The beautiful Paoay Church or Saint Augustine Church is perhaps the most-visited religious site in the province. Built in 1710, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the government. It attracts pilgrims all over the country and remains one of the most important creations of Philippine Baroque architecture.

Air travel is the quickest and most efficient way of getting to Ilocos Norte, but it is also the costliest. Cebu Pacific Air and Philippine Airlines offer one-hour flights from Manila Domestic Airport to Laoag Airport.

By Land
Traveling by bus is longer but more economical. The trip takes about 10 to 12 hours via bus lines like Florida and Partas, so it's best to pick a comfortable seat and bring essentials like food, water, and a travel pillow for the long haul.

A unique feature of the church is its separate bell tower known as the Sinking Bell Tower, which slowly sinks into the ground as the years pass.
